Frequently asked questions
It is the certificate Trafikstyrelsen (the Danish Civil Aviation and Railway Authority) issues when you pass the drone exam. There are two: the A1/A3 theory certificate, which most pilots need, and the A2 certificate of competency for flying C2 drones closer to people. Both are valid for five years across the EU and the other EASA countries.
Yes, if your drone weighs 250 grams or more with its camera and equipment. Under 250 grams you don't need a certificate, but if the drone has a camera you must still register as a drone operator.
The exam is online through Trafikstyrelsen's site droneregler.dk. You log in with MitID, pay the DKK 130 fee (2026) and get 3 attempts. It has 40 questions and no time limit. The certificate arrives in your Digital Post once you pass.
The Danish online exam requires MitID. If you live in another EU or EASA country, take the exam with your own country's aviation authority instead: a certificate from any EASA country is valid in Denmark.
A1/A3 is the basic theory certificate for most drones. The A2 certificate of competency lets you fly C2 drones (under 4 kg) as close as 30 metres from people, or 5 metres in low-speed mode. To take A2 you need A1/A3, must complete practical self-training and pass an exam with a provider recognised by Trafikstyrelsen.
No. They are practice questions we wrote ourselves from the EU rules and the Danish drone rules. They aren't copies of the official exam, but they cover the same topics and the mock exam follows the same format.
1 free practice session and 1 free mock exam per certificate, without creating an account. You can replay them with the same questions.
From 69 kr. for 1 week of A1/A3 access. You can also choose 1 month or lifetime, and A2 or both certificates together. Every plan is a one-time payment with no subscription and no automatic renewal.
Yes. In Denmark, drone flights must be covered by liability insurance unless the drone is a toy. Drones over 250 grams must be insured for at least 0.75 million SDR (about DKK 7 million). Check whether your home or personal liability insurance covers your drone.
Yes. Pilots from EU and EASA countries fly on the same terms as Danish pilots, using the operator registration and certificate from their home country. If you live outside the EU, you register with the authority of the first EASA country where you plan to fly.
